After a forty-plus days long renovation in Marseille, Norwegian Spirit has left the drydock and made her first cruise with passengers. The design has been upgraded for a cost of more than $100 millions and Tillberg Design of Sweden is pleased to have been chosen to be the main designer of the most extensive NCL refit ever.

Fourteen new venues have been redesigned onboard the ship; Garden Café, the Great Outdoors Bar, the Windows Restaurant, Taste Restaurant, Spinnaker Observation Lounge, Bier Garten, Cagney’s Steakhouse, Teppanyaki Sushi Restaurant and Le Bistro French Speciality restaurant are all designed by TDoS. All staterooms and suites, including sixteen new staterooms on deck ten, can also be put on TDoS record together with the main pool area and the aft pool area called Spice H2O. The main lobby and Casino have also undergone a major architectural renovation.

In addition, the Mandara Spa has been doubled in size with more facilities added such as heated loungers, new jacuzzis and saunas. The overall design is inspired by Norwegian Cruise Lines’ latest newbuilds and the brand wants to ensure that they provide the guests with an experience over the top,

“NCL Spirit was designed by TDoS over twenty years ago as Star Cruise Leo, and now we were asked to be part of her reincarnation. This dry dock has been the longest and most challenging refit ever in the history of NCL and TDoS. For us, being the main architects responsible for almost the whole vessel refurbishment design, this has really been “A Spiritual Journey” says Raffi Nazarian, Refurbishment Director at TDoS.

Norwegian Spirit was originally built in 1998 and accommodates 2018 guests today. She will offer cruises to a wide range of destinations.
