MCS Grandiosa Christening


With a spectacular light ceremony and special celebrities attending, among others Sophia Loren, MSC Grandiosa was christened in the city of Hamburg last weekend (9-10 November).

MSC Grandiosa is the first of three ships in the serie Meraviglia-Plus and equipped for cleaner emissions with hybrid EGCS which removes 98% of sulphure dioxide from a ship’s exhaust. The cruise line has already a fleet of 10 other ships equipped with this green technology and plan to refit 6 others until the end of 2021. MSC strives for green solutions and sustainability and all hulls of MCS cruise ships are recoated with a special environmentally-friendly paint. In addition to this MSCuses a system to reduce, recycle and reuse all waste onboard.

Grandiosa will set sail for her usual 7-night cruises on 23 November.
